We recently built a website for Wayne Gorner, a professional pianist based in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Manchester. The website makes superb use of sound clips from sound cloud and videos from Youtube and can be easliy updated by Wayne whenever he records a new piece.

Using The Met Office weather forecast widget you can add local weather forecasts to your website.
The value it adds to your website really depends on what type of services your business offers.
As an example we have used this on a minibus hire website purely because they offer minibus tours and knowing the weather in the UK people would rather book a tour if the weather is good.
Some might say ‘this gives customers an excuse not to make a booking’ but from a website value point of view it provides the customer with more useful information making the web page more valuable to them and therefore making them more likely to visit again.

Make sure that your robot.txt file is up to date . Having an outdated robot.txt file that contains broken links is just as bad as having broken links on your actual website.
The robot.txt tells search engines about the pages that you have on your website. Search engines don’t always pick up on all website pages within websites which is why having a robot.txt file that works is important. Robot.txt files offer search engines a simple way to find all of the pages on your website and then indexes the relevant pages into the Google index.
Please note: having a robot.txt file does not mean that your pages will be indexed, you still need pages that are of value to Google and its users in order to get indexed so don’t for one minute think its a quick fix for people wanting to get onto the 1st page of Google because it isn’t!

I received a text from Orange last week to say they were increasing my monthly mobile phone charge by nearly 5%. I’ve been with them for around 6 years, direct debit paid every month without fail, but have now changed to O2. Big sales and marketing message is that we need to keep our prices as competitive as possible to keep our small business clients going as we head for another recession. Keeping prices to a minimum at this time is an investment in your clients’ businesses, stay in the game and be in good shape when there is an economic upturn. The new website design is fairly minimal with the key focus being the main image slideshow when each page loads.
